Remembering 9/11

It’s hard to believe it’s already been ten years since the day that changed the world and our lives forever. I wasn’t planning on making a post Mustang related, but this is too cool to pass up.

If you were to ask someone anywhere in the world to create a list of things that represent American pride, surely the muscle car or Ford Mustang will be on there.

An Ebay seller (nyyankee) in New York has been selling magnetic rear blackout panels for the rear of 2010+ Mustangs. I bought one from him about a year ago, but recently leading up to the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks he has come up with a very special magnetic rear panel.

The magnetic rear panel features a graphic tribute ‘Never Forget 9-11-2001’. Some may argue that’s it’s over the top and gawdy, but personally I think it’s a great tribute of remembrance to that day as well as those lost.  It’s not something to keep on the car year round obviously, but certainly something you could put on your car on the anniversary of 9/11. Interest in these panels was understandably high and the rear panels quickly sold out, but I’m sure these will be offered again in the future. Adjwok Design Ltd. announces the introduction of the first series production Mustang Retractable Hardtop Convertible. This exclusive Mustang RHT Convertible is a post-title program based on the late model Mustang Convertible. A serialized limited production for 2012 model year will be built in collaboration with manufacturing and distribution partners inDetroit.

Dealer’s stock shortages of the 5.0 liter 2012 Mustang led to delays of start of production build of the 2012 model. To maintain exclusivity and future collectability we plan to build only a total of 300 units for the 2012 model.

A few current 2010-2011 Mustang Convertible owners have a fantastic opportunity to have their vehicles fitted with the first 12 pilot production units at super discounted prices before distribution begins to our dealership network.  We have negotiated discounted transit costs to customers outside of Metro Detroit.

Following an overwhelming positive response; we decided to offer a limited production build based on the 2012 Mustang Convertible which shall be available soon from participating regional dealer outlets throughout theUnited States. The vehicles will be available in limited base color schemes of Black, Performance White, Kona Blue, Silver and Red Candy Metallic.

Design and Specifications

Our design objectives were to create a high-image Mustang coupe-convertible that stands uniquely distinctive from the existing Mustang coupe and the soft-top convertible models. Enhancing both interior and exterior looks and quality of the car adds more sophistication and couture to the open air driving experience. The result is a unique motorcar that is not necessarily of high performance, but a car that is trendy and suitable for all seasons, long journeys and also for short trips to town, office or shopping and a car that would fit as a wife’s second car.

Starting with a Mustang Convertible base car, the conversion transforms the car into a fully automatic Mercedes SL style RHT Convertible with the following specifications:

• Automatic retractable hardtop roof system
• Interior trimming with luxury accents
• Rear seats for 2+2 configuration (basic). Alternatively, classic roadster configuration rear cargo bench with straps for storing and securing travel bags/briefcases or golf bags (Optional)
• Men/ladies classic designer leather luggage bags/briefcases (optional)
• Coat hangers (optional)
• Custom body paint (optional)

Mustang RTR Package

The 2011 Mustang GT already offers incredible performance and looks, but it is now possible to take these attributes to the next level. A new dealer installed ‘RTR package’ will become available with considerable changes to performance, handling, braking, and visual styling.

The RTR package was masterminded by Vaughn Gittin Jr., who competes in Formula Drift driving the Monster Energy/Falken Tire 2011 Ford Mustang GT. Vaughn Gittin Jr teamed up with Ford Racing to create a package that combines modern performance with a visual edge. The package was then assembled and manufactured by Classic Design Concepts of Novi, Michigan.

According to Mickey Matus, Ford’s Performance Group marketing manager, “Vaughn’s goal was to introduce an exciting new package to the Mustang world that appeals towards both younger and traditional muscle car enthusiasts. By partnering with Ford Racing to develop the Mustang RTR, he has achieved that goal with ease and illustrates how universal Mustang’s appeal is.”

Performance and handling

The Mustang RTR package will vastly improve handling and braking with the addition of Falken FK-452 performance tires. The tire has five linear ribs, three-dimensional rounded blocks, and stiffer wide steel belts. The result is better tire tread rigidity, stability and handling. The RTR also uses Ford Racing shocks, 1.5″ lowering springs and an upgraded rear sway bar for further handling improvement and to give the car an extremely mean stance. Beefier brakes with the advent of cross-drilled and slotted rotors help the RTR stop on command. Power upgrades are on tap with the RTR as well, with an upgraded ECU, high flow air filter, and throaty FR500S mufflers to provide an audible improvement.

Aerodynamics and appearance

To top off the package, the RTR will feature several aerodynamic improvements over stock form. The RTR adorns tastefully chosen exterior additions including a front mounted chin spoiler, rear diffuser, rear mounted aluminum spoiler, rocker splitters, and distinctive RTR racing stripes. These aerodynamic improvements allow a reduction in drag and are the icing on the cake in combination with the suspension upgrades. The RTR will also have unique interior detailing patterns and styling with RTR embroidered floor mats, shift knob, gauges, and emblems.

The whole RTR package will set you back $7,895 and can be installed at select Ford dealers. At present the RTR package is only available for the 2011 Mustang GT. Fear not though V6 enthusiasts, expect a V6 RTR package later this year.

Steeda has released a line of 2010 and 2011 Mustang performance aftermarket products and has recently extended this line into the visual styling department. Steeda is now offering a direct replacement for your factory Mustang hood. The Steeda Q-series hood has a similar look to the factory Mustang hood but includes a large functional vent forward of the dome of the hood. Everyone knows that underhood temperatures can get extremely hot, however with the functional vent with the Q-series hood, Steeda claims temperatures can be dropped to within ten degrees of the ambient outside temperature. Simply put, cooler air means better performance. Besides the added performance benefits, the Q-series hood’s dome features a 1/2″ inch raise over the factory hood’s dome for a more aggressive appearance. The Q-series hood comes unpainted.

Steeda has released a line of 2010 and 2011 Mustang performance aftermarket products and has recently extended this line into the visual styling department. Steeda is now offering a Front Splitter that is a quick and easily installed add on to the front of your Mustang. The splitter is designed as a direct bolt on to the factory lower front bumper. With the stock Mustang front bumper, air can flow underneath the car and at higher speeds can cause the front end of the car to lift. With the Steeda Front splitter, aerodynamics are improved by channeling airflow to the outside of the car instead of underneath. By sending air to the sides, it eliminates front end lift at higher speeds and therefore creates more downforce to create better front end grip. The splitter will also redirect better airflow into the factory lower grille sending cooler air over the radiator. The Steeda Front Splitter comes unpainted.
